a) The National Environmental Management Act, 1998 (Act No. 107 of 1998)
b) The National Environment Management: Biodiversity Act, 2004 (Act No. 10 of 2004)
c) The National Environment Management: Protected Areas Act, 2003 (Act No. 57 of 2003)
d) Any other relevant law

This permit allows collection, possession and transportation of Protea Spp. sample for the purpose of research. Standard  permit conditions and species outlined in The Permit issued by Cape Nature under reference number CN17-28-38272.

This permit is intended to facilitate bona fide research and should not be used for the purposes of financial gain by the permit holder..

Information on the utilization of the genetic resource(s)
  • Non-Commercial
Scientific investigation or practical experiment which includes the collection, possession and transportation of Protea spp. The summary of the research findings and outcomes including the dates, locations, species and quantities collected should be submitted to the Issuing Authority. No specimens should be used in any other bioprospecting context. Should the research reveal any bioprospecting potential or commercial value, the applicant must subsequently notify the South African Nagoya National Focal Point for alignment. 
Species collected in terms of this permit shall not be sold or offered for sale.
